The problem
Carers need to keep regular checks on service users and record their status at each check, based on their caseload and the level of care required. Observation frequencies may be as high as every 15 minutes. Without a clear shared view and consistent documentation, it becomes harder to spot missed checks in time, maintain accountability, and capture a reliable record when a service user is off-site.
The solution
The Intermittent Observation module digitises observation scheduling, recording, and reporting, combining a desktop oversight view with a streamlined mobile workflow for carers on shift.

Observation dashboard
A caseload-based list of service users, showing location, configured interval, and current status (OK, Not OK, Missed).
Flexible observation intervals
Set per service user to 15, 30 (default), 45, or 60 minutes, with changes taking effect at 07:00.
Mobile-first observation capture
Carers select location and the service user due in the current time slot, record the outcome via simple icons, add a short description, and save with confirmation.
Standardised missed reasons
First missed checks require a reason (e.g., with friends/family, at college, in hospital, AWOL, other). “Other” requires a note, and later missed checks carry the reason forward until observations resume.
History and 24-hour PDF reporting
View recorded checks (with controlled editing of missed entries) and download a 07:00–06:59 “Close Observation Record (Intermittent)” report per service user.
